Validation process
The “service evolution process” guides the evolution of the GMES Emergency Response Service portfolio in relation to new products and new services developed in the frame of SAFER.
The evolution of the GMES Emergency Response Service is user-driven, meaning that it takes users’ requirements as a key input. Its target is to build, on an iterative basis, a “fit for purpose” set of services that will function in an operational mode after the end of SAFER.
Note that the evolution of the SAFER service process is aligned with GMES guidelines in terms of products and services validation since validation activities are performed by an independent entity (JRC) which drives its activities in accordance with those guidelines :
- Scientific validation of the information content and quality of each constituent data product, over a fully comprehensive range of geographic and environmental conditions for an adequate period.
- Technical validation of the service-level characteristics (e.g. availability, completeness, timeliness, reliability, responsiveness)
- User assessments of impact (benefits) of the service for its intended multiple uses within a range of different policy contexts.
